AUTUMN FUNDRAISER

KAT Trustees Sal and Matt walked the Kirklees Way all in one go on the 21st / 22nd August. It took them 30 hours to do the 75 miles, and so far this gargantuan effort has raised £1,200 which will go directly towards supporting young peoples' adventurous activities. Lots of friends of Little Deer Wood and KAT came to support them, walking sections with them and bringing them supplies (including alcohol free beer at 10:30pm and hot apple crumble and custard at 2:30am!). They also kept posting social media progress updates, and the encouraging comments really spurred them on.
Near the end they were met by some of the young people whom KAT supports, and Member of Parliament Kim Leadbeater MBE who presented them with a cheque for £200. “It was fantastic to go and support Sal Salter and Matt Saward on their incredible challenge as they set off to walk the entire 75-mile Kirklees Way overnight in just two days, raising vital funds for Kirklees Adventure Trust. I’ve visited Little Deer Wood in Mirfield many times and seen the valuable work they do delivering fully inclusive outdoor activities for people from the local area and beyond, and I’m very pleased to have made them my Charity of the Month for August.” You can see some of the pictures of their adventure below.
We are absolutely not suggesting that you should take on anything of this magnitude; Sal and Matt and experienced endurance mountain walkers / runners and put in a huge amount of training and planning to achieve this.
What you CAN do is get sponsorship and tackle the Kirklees Way in lots of manageable sections, or travel the equivalent distance and log your mileage. You can sign up for your challenge on the form below and we will send you all of the information that you will need. We can't wait to hear how you are getting on!
