PROJECTS
The following are just a few examples of projects which the Kirklees Adventure Trust has supported. This is only made possible by the generosity of our supporters and sponsors, our fundraising events such as the annual Christmas Fayre and through grants for which we have successfully applied.
Low Ropes Course
The accessible low ropes course at Little Deer Wood offers a fantastic developmental and educational opportunity for participants of all abilities. The bespoke elements form a circuit to offer a continual challenge course. The course was designed to accommodate wheelchairs and offers a unique challenge for groups of all abilities to work as a team and overcome problems and obstacles together.
The Trust is indebted to the West Riding Masonic Charities Ltd (sponsored by Howley Lodge, Batley) and to Cummins Turbo Technologies for their generous financial support and to Cummins' staff teams who volunteered their help, undertaking the ground works and clearing in preparation for the installation of the course.
Auto Belays

Climbing requires a lot of problem-solving, mental concentration and focus, so it helps sharpen your brain. A lot of people like it as it allows you to escape everyday worries and just focus on the climb. It also can give a great sense of achievement.
The Auto Belays have enabled Little Deer Wood to reduce the amount of time needed to get participants climbing quickly and safely. Using an auto belay helps to reduce operating costs, attracts more climbers and makes climbing even more fun. The Trust would like to thank the Peter Harrison Foundation and Sir George Martin Trust for their generous support.
Stage

The decking stage is a multifunctional area at Little Deer Wood which has helped make use of an uneven slope. As well as a first-class performance area, it's generous proportions mean it can be used for several activities, as well as a raised sleeping platform on which to pitch teepees. The Trust were able to support this project with the generous support of Mirfield Educational Charity.
